  • First make sure your password is 8 characters long. You can reset your password using the link on the left navigation [Self Password Changer]
  • If you are new to the district, be sure to login to the district email system using this link at least once. That will synchronize your District account/password with GAFE (Google Apps for Education).
  • You are now ready to setup your District provided GAFE account on your personal device.

iPhone/iPad Instructions [iOS]

  • Navigate to ‘Settings’ on your device.
  • On the left hand pane select ‘Mail, Contacts, Calendars’ and then select ‘Add Account’.
  • You will be prompted to select what type of account you will be setting up. Do not select Google, even though we are technically using Google this isn’t the correct way for a GA4E account on iOS devices. Select the option titled ‘Exchange’. DO NOT SELECT GOOGLE!
  • Enter in your email address, this should be the same as it was once before, except for we will no longer be using ‘@dist428.org’, we will be using ‘@d428.org’. Description can be whatever you want, I suggest changing it from “Exchange” to something related to work, i.e., “Work” or “Dist428”.
  • On the next screen you should only need to fill in two fields. It will ask you for the ‘Server’, this will be ‘m.google.com’. It should also ask for your username, this will be your full network login with ‘@d428.org. For example ‘marco.robles@d428.org’ would be my username.
  • After you have finished entering in all your information hit next at the top right of the window. You will be prompted on what all you want to have synced to your device, I suggest that you leave it as default so that you don’t miss any important notifications that may come in.

Android Instructions (4.x)

NOTE! - These instructions will vary quite a bit depending on which version of android you are running. The information you will enter will be the same, you just need to know how to get to the area where you can add an email account.

  • Navigate to Settings on your device.
  • At the top you should select the General tab, your device might not even have this tab, but what you are looking for is the Accounts menu.

[Android 3.x] (click Accounts)

[Android 5.x] (click Accounts)

  • Depending on what version of Android you are running you will have a couple of different options to select. You can go ahead and select Add account. After you do that select Google as the account type.
  • On the next screen hit existing account and then you will be prompted to sign in. Enter in your full network login, this should be the same as it was once before, except we will be appending ‘@d428.org’ to the end of it. Hit Sign in, you may be asked if you want to be kept up to date with offers from Google Play, you can leave this selected or deselect as you wish.
  • On the final screen you will be prompted on everything you want to keep synced with your device. Depending on how many apps you have installed there could be quite a few options. I suggest keeping { “App Data” , “Calendar”, “Contacts”, “Drive”, “Gmail”, “People Details” }. Everything else is not needed for your work email account.
